Nanny: frequently asked questions
A nanny looks after children at home: routines, meals, homework, school runs and activities. She can work full-time, part-time or live in the family home. Hiring is formalised as a household employee or under a specific employment contract depending on hours and dedication, always with Social Security registration.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to hire a nanny in Andalusia?
Basic €35 opens 3 full profiles, Active search €59 opens 7 and Professional €108 opens 15. Prices include VAT, are paid once by card and carry no subscription; registration and publishing a profile are free. Unlocked profiles stay available for 30 days.
What does a nanny earn per hour or per month?
Pay can never fall below the SMI: €1,221 gross per month across 14 payments in 2026, and in part-time the hourly rate pro rata of the hours worked. Hourly work is calculated on the agreed weekly hours; full-time or live-in pay rises with experience, languages and the number of children. The platform fee is separate and is not added to the salary.
What does a nanny do?
In-home childcare: routines, meals, homework, school runs and activities. Childcare is best kept separate from housework: if cleaning or ironing is also needed, that is a cleaner or a housekeeper. What is expected with homework and dinner should be clear before starting.
Does she need a contract and Social Security registration?
Yes. A nanny can be formalised as a household employee or under a specific employment contract depending on hours and dedication, and either way there is Social Security registration. The reference framework is Royal Decree 1620/2011 for domestic service. Administration of the contract and registration is included in the plan.
Can I hire a nanny with no experience?
We impose no minimum number of years, but childcare is the profession where experience with similar ages weighs most: each profile states it and previous families leave references. First aid is a plus many families value. For babies or children with special needs, prioritise profiles with proven experience at that age.
Does the nanny have to speak Spanish?
We do not require an official level, but every profile lists its languages and the catalogue filters by them; many families specifically want a nanny who speaks English with the children. Dealing with the school, the paediatrician and activities still takes conversational Spanish. Check the real level in the interview.
How do you verify a nanny's documents?
We check ID or passport, background and references from previous families before publishing the profile. Each candidate records a video presentation of up to 2 minutes and takes the 20-question professional test — 10 on experience, 10 on psychological profile. Contact details are unlocked when you open the profile with your plan.
Can the nanny live in the house?
Yes. A live-in arrangement must provide a room, meals and at least 10 hours of uninterrupted night rest. That rest is not a bonus: it is what makes looking after children sustainable the next day. Presence hours and days off must appear in the contract.
How long does it take to find a nanny?
We set no deadline in days: the catalogue opens when payment is confirmed and new profiles are published after document verification. The plan gives 30 days of access to compare profiles, write and interview. Availability varies a lot between cities and by season, especially in summer.
What if the nanny does not connect with the children?
The plan includes 3, 7 or 15 profile unlocks depending on what you buy, so you can try another candidate within the same plan. With children, a first trial week with the family present and a written routine list is the usual approach. As a one-off payment there is no automatic renewal or tie-in.
